I believe that psychotherapy and counselling are part of a collaborative process, aimed at understanding how past experiences may still affect us in the present; in ways that can cause distress, even if we are not always fully aware of it. These influences can lead to unhappiness, emotional difficulties and struggles in relationships.
Together, we can explore patterns of thinking or behaviour that may be limiting your well-being or preventing you from feeling fulfilled. Since change can often create anxiety, we will also work to uncover hidden barriers that may be blocking progress, even when you are trying hard to make things better.
Psychotherapy can take time. It’s about working together to understand your challenges within the context of your life and experiences. Sometimes, brief therapy is enough to address specific issues, but for longstanding problems, regular sessions over a longer period may be necessary and this commitment allows for deeper understanding. At our first meeting we can begin to think about what your difficulties may be and what kind of therapy will be the most helpful for you.
While psychotherapy can be challenging, it offers the potential for profound, long-term transformation.

You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending. - CS Lewis
